I will answer first, if I were wound care certified my dream job would be to do wound care consultations and just be a treatment nurse all the time.  I would be on call and get to run out and handle all the cool wound cases. Wounds just wounds all day every day!!!!! That would be my dream job!!!!!

Yes, yes, yes!!!!!
Ha ha.....I Love it Mara!!!!
I would be the go-to nurse and my orders for care would be respected and followed.
Ahhhh Fran.....a girl after my own heart....:)
I would be the wound care person for the hospital I work at. I would consult on all open wounds. Met with the Medical Staff to inform them of all wound care options.
I would do wound care nursing and be available for consult
I love it Nichole!!!! Your own office and all the wound care resources you need at your fingertips!!!!
If I were a certified wound care nurse, I would most likely not change a thing, except I would certainly be more confident and would be able to go into the community, if asked, armed with more knowledge and autonomy.  But, I would not change my employer or seek other unless it were here in my own community.
I feel the same way.....I love my employer and I have brought this up to them many times that I could just run around and just do all the wound care to free up the other nurses for other things.  But, they love my diabetic teachng because I am the only nurse that teaches the glycemic index.....so there answer was "we really need to keep you working with the diabetics"  I guess I should do a workshop with the other nurses to teach them the glycemic index....then it would free me up for more wounds??????
My dream job would be to work as a wound specialist in a large hospital and do EVERY one of the in-patient wound consults. I would always try to take time to teach nursing preventive and treatment wound strategies and I would incorporate the family in my teachings. It would be the best dream-job I could imagine!
If I am a WCC, I would like to be the Wound Nurse in my Dept. Being the wound nurse resouces and wound educator.
I love to hear that Ester!  I agree that if more places gave one nurse the position of only handling wound issues the care would be so much more focused and wounds would heal faster.  Also, the "go-to" person is such a valuable resource for nurses out on the floor.  Especially surgical, LTC and Rehab depts.  And working as a wound educator, you learn so much yourself while teaching!
