First, the workers' dedication which will lead to seeking education on how to properly and effectively care for wounds and patients'condition. It may need intensive training but at least, education will give the best idea how to care for affected people.
Hi Leonora,  Thanks for your input.  I totally agree with you.  Education is key to providing current evidence-based wound care.  The outcome for our patients is dependent on our assessment and recommendations.  WIthout staying current with wound care we place patients at such a risk!
Continuity of care!  If you have the same group of caregivers, they will more quickly notice a change in a patient's skin condition!

EDUCATION!!!  So many health care professionals are lacking the education required to provide evidence based wound care.  I am hoping one day that certification will be mandatory for any practitioner who provides wound care.   There are far to many mistakes being made due to lack of knowledge.

I love the idea of having a treatment nurse that has extra training and/or wound certification.  Floor nursing is a busy job and sometimes hard to get all the wound care done and done right.  A treatment nurse can focus on just wound care all day every day and the patients get the most attention to their wounds this way.  I myself admit to a busy day at work and missing a step because I was called away or rushing through a dressing change because I had 37 patients to pass meds on that day.  The treatment nurse can" fill the gap" so to speak and improve wound care in any setting!
