Hi everyone!

I noticed that we have alot of LVN/LPN's here on the board.  I was wondering how many of us LVN/LPN's are considering becoming certified?  There are wound care courses and certification for LVN's and I believe this is really helpful to boost our resume and help us get better more exciting jobs such as; treatment nurse, wound care nurse or as an assistant to a WOCN.  I have been thinking about this for quite some time now so I thought I would let all of our LVN's know there are courses out there for us!

LVN/LPN's did you know that with a wound care certification course, 3 years clinical experience and a High School Diploma you are eligible to sit for wound care certification? I personally did not know this until recently.  I am an LVN that loves my nursing role.  I am one of those that wishes to stay and LVN and practice within my scope.  I feel that there is so much that I do one on one with patients every day that makes my role in nursing beneficial to both my patients, myself and my colleagues.  I always thought I might need to go on to become an RN or higher to become wound certified.  Now I know that I have options within my license.

How many of us LVN/LPN's are considering taking a wound care course and how do you feel that would better your license and job options?

As an LPN you could achieve the widely recognized and respected CWCA or the WCC wound certification, provided that you have three years of clinical experience.  Achieving wound certification is an excellent way for you to improve you knowledge, increase your experience and ultimately provide even greater care for your patients.  In addition, certification demonstrates to both your patients and your employer that you have achieved a higher level of knowledge and are fully competent in wound care.  For more information about how we can help you achieve wound certification, please CLICK HERE.
Many people who think that they are not eligible for wound certification actually are, and after some research are surprised to learn that they are eligible after all. It is certainly worth investigating.  Detailed information about eligibility criteria can be found HERE.
Wound education and certification is a great way to help boost your career and improve patient care. Even if one finds that they are not yet eligible for wound certification, completing a comprehensive wound care course and having a certificate of completion would certainly be beneficial. In a crowded job market, this would help you stand out from the crowd and give you the edge over your competition.  For more information about wound care certification courses CLICK HERE.
