My new DON disbanded my Wound Team of 7 and now I make wound rounds alone. Have any of you had an issue like that? I'm fighting the fight of wound importance, but not everyone sees it that way.

Is this wound team in a hospital or LTC facility? While this may be a cost saving effort, it may well result in an increase in costs through litigation, fines and extended treatment days.
Why in the world would your DON do such an irresponsible thing this day and age? Does he/she realize the importance stressed on this area recently? I would perhaps, refuse to fight the battle on your own d/t risk of putting your owl license on the line for the responsibility of treating these individuals.
I work in an acute hospital setting and administration reduced our wound team from 3 to 2 nurses. They stated that the economic turn down is limiting funding in all health care fields
It's not a good move
The following depts should always be a part of wound care treatment PT and DIETARY
PT for off loading pressure/postion
Dietary for supplements and monitoring consumption of liquids and solids
your DON will live to wish this choice was not made.
