I just noticed an interesting post.  Does anyone have any other thoughts on this?

Thanks for your reply.. but unfortunately I left that facility after almost 12 years at the beginning of July and now am starting a new job on Monday July25th at a nursing, Rehab facility as their wound nurse.. I will keep this in mind about procellera.. I still have close contacts with Joyce and she is going to take the wound cert. test in Sept. She is using my book/materials that I used on line.

Dorothy - I would be happy to help you out. If you can give me your contact number at work, we can set up a training webinar and get you and Joyce started. Let me know what works best for you.

I would love to have samples of Procellera and the clinical support.. I work with a CRNP every other week and she is also interested in this . Her Name is Joyce Hawk, RN CRNP .

The cost of Procellera will vary depending on the facility. The average cost is $3.00/ sq. inch and it is a 7 day dressing. A wound this size could be treated with 1 sheet (2x5 inch)  along with an appropriate cover dressing and in most cases should be fully epithelialized within the week. Procellera is highly cost effective when considering the minimal amount of dressing changes, and excellent outcomes especially in fragile/ frail skin like your skin tear example. As compared with Mepitel , Procellera will provide antimicrobial activity without the toxicity of some other silver products. If anyone is interested in trialing some Procellera - I would be happy to arrange for samples and provide clinical support. The clinical feedback has been superb and from patients and clinicians.

Thanks for your input Dorothy.  I think this group is going to grow and be a valuable resource for certified wound professionals.  When I was working in the field as a home care nurse I FREQUENTLY relied on a forum of certified wound nurses to help with advice on difficult wounds.  The recommendations that I received were always helpful and I knew I could trust the advice since everyone was certified.  Please invite your certified colleagues to join  so that we can get this group cranking!

I am glad this site has been started. I don't get to sit down at my computer on a regular basis but when I do , I think I am going to really enjoy this site. It is nice to know I can ask certified wound care professionals questions about wounds and wound care products and feel confident in their opinions.
