Question from Tan Mei:  Dear all, what is the proper method of keeping excess dressing product? Put it back to the original package and tape the ends using a micropore? How soon later should we finish using the product?

Question from Francella:  I know off loading or floating heels is accepted practice but several places I have worked also apply skin prep or betadie to the heel to prevent devolpment of ulcers or to prevent an intact blister from opening thus allowing it to heal. My question? Is this a wives tale that just sprang up from no where or is there clinical evidence that this practice is more useful than just off loading the pressure?

Question from Kenneth:  am a vein specialist and I am wondering if anyone has experience treating an ulcer created after sclerotherapy.  Typically, this is a AVM , where the scleroscant gets into the arterial side of the circulation, and creates a round area of necrosis, usually at the ankle.  Any pointers?

Question from Lisa:  I have a patient with stage 3 infected pressure wounds to the right medial heel and left lateral ankle. Both with tunneling. The physician has been prescribing tunnel packing with Dakins soaked nugauze then wound bed covered with Dakins soaked 4x4s followed by dry 4x4 and kerlix. The wounds are showing no signs of improvement over the last 2 months. I have suggested a wound vac but the physician is resistent. Does anyone have any other suggestions to help get these wounds healing?

Question from Kim:  We just received orders for a home care patient .. to pack the right great toe (approx 1cm deep) with iodorform gauze > dsd daily. As there is no caregiver able to learn the dsg change... any suggestions for a treatment that would not involve daily dressing. pt CRF (dialysis), htn, diabetes, anemia. I just thought that there may be something better than iodorform... thanks for any help.....
