Wound Team Disbanded

My new DON disbanded my Wound Team of 7 and now I make wound rounds alone. Have any of you had an issue like that? I'm fighting the fight of wound importance, but not everyone sees it that way.

We use clean technique (unless otherwise specified). I wear 2 pair of gloves (they are not powdered). First pair to take off the old dressing and exam. Remove. Clean gloves to put on new dressing. If there is a problem, I do change.

Have you tried also perhaps adding hydrogel to the xeroforom? It adds hydration to the dressing and can very much ease in the removal.

Amen! I do this also and it really helps the patient's comfort level. Especially for wound-vac removals Lidocaine directly down the vac tubing about 5 minutes prior to the procedure plus the premed works wonders. Not only does it moisten the…
